Ate Norma has been our helper since 1985. That's 23 years!!! She even lived with us in Cagayan de Oro for 3 years, when Del Monte decided to transfer both my parents to their main office. We actually consider a part of our family already. Kapag kumakain kami sa labas, tiyak, kasama siya. When my sisters and I want to watch a movie, we invite her to come with us. All our relatives know her, even those who haven't gone back to Pinas for a long time. Actually, masarap siyang kasamang kumain sa labas. She tries to identify how the food is cooked, and what the ingredients are, and does a similar thing at home. Kumain kami dati sa Recipes, ginawa niya sa bahay yung gising-gising at crispy tilapia. Pareho nga ng lasa!! :P
She likes the teleserye on TV. She is such a GMA addict. Paborito niya ang Daisy Siyete (I'm not kidding), the series after Daisy Siyete, Dyesebel, and she also used to watch Marimar. I remember one time, hindi siya makapanood ng , kasi daddy ko nanonood ng TV sa living room, gustung-gusto niya manood ng Marimar. She went to our next-door neighbor, rang the doorbell, and asked if she can watch Marimar with them. At 9:15 pm!! Hahahaha!!!!!! Ganyan siya ka-addict, even at 55 years old. :) Siguro din kasi wala siyang asawa at anak, kaya ito na lang kaligayahan niya.
Lately, though, i think she's beginning to enjoy foreign shows as well. She laughed when Andy sang The Rainbow Connection to Pam in The Office (US). She gets curious what the medical case is in Grey's Anatomy. She watches intently what Giada De Laurentiis or Ina Garten cooks. I was watching Samantha Who earlier, natawa siya dun sa isang scene with Jerry O'Connell. She also enjoyed watching Ugly Betty with us. Last night, she saw a trailer of The Mummy. She turned to me, her eyes sparkling, and asked excitedly, "The Mummy yan, 'te?". Turns out, she got to watch The Mummy 1 and 2 in their province before.
Ate Norma is such a true gem. Kahit minsan mine-menopause siya, mahal pa rin namin siya. :)
